Acer Computer Australia has signed a partnership agreement with Australian-owned IT services company, Powerlan.
Powerlan will become one of Acer's key resellers, an alliance which will allow both companies to reach into new markets, according to executives.
"The alliance is a mutually beneficial one," said Acer managing director, Patrick Lin. "For Acer, the partnership extends our reach into the corporate market and can only strengthen and build on our position in this sector. On the other hand, Acer's government ties will enable Powerlan to penetrate the government market segment."
Acer aims to be the third largest PC vendor in Australia by 2003.
Powerlan recently added technology distributor, Interface Technology, to its growing list of acquisitions and will absorb its focus markets, including government and defence.
Powerlan's managing director Theo Baker said he was delighted with the deal.
"We continue to be impressed by Acer's commitment to its customer base, such as its extensive warranty program," he said.
