SAN MATEO (06/29/2000) - Informatica Corp. on Wednesday partnered with Ariba Inc. to spread the deployment of Informatica Applications, the company's business analytics technology.
Ariba Inc., a Mountain View, California-based vendor of business-to-business commerce software, will license the business analytics technology that Palo Alto, California-based Informatica made generally available last week and will provide it to Ariba customers on request, free of charge, on a limited-term basis.
Marv Mouchawar, senior vice president and general manager of the applications business unit at Informatica, says the company's latest offering, Informatica Applications, is a three-product suite designed to integrate the aspects of a company's e-business data infrastructure, such as CRM (customer relationship management), ERP (enterprise resource planning), and data about partners and suppliers.
"The suite provides business metrics that can be key indicators to the overall health of a company," Mouchawar says.
Doug Laney, vice president of application delivery strategies at market research company Meta Group Inc., in Chicago, said Informatica's new suite brings the company closer to competitors such as Sagent Technology Inc. and Hummingbird.
"They are a year or two behind those guys in producing end-to-end data warehousing population and analytics software," Laney said.
