SAN MATEO (07/07/2000) - NQuire Software Inc., based in San Mateo, California. has unveiled Version 2.0 of its updated nQuire Suite for Internet intelligence as well as the nQuire Answers query system.
The suite deals with issues such as: the volumes of data that companies have; the needs of many different users, such as customers, suppliers, partners, and employees; and the need to leverage investments so companies can use existing infrastructures, such as data warehouses and e-commerce platforms, according to Steve Burnes, vice president of marketing at nQuire.
Answers, meanwhile, enables users to provide employees, partners, and customers with the ability to ask questions in plain English, then retrieves answers from data sources. Questions are interpreted and passed to the nQuire Server to determine which data sources need to be accessed. Integration of information and analytics also are part of the product.
"The 30,000-foot view is to think about it like an Ask Jeeves that actually gets the answers, instead of just links to possible answers," Burnes said.
In a report from San Jose-based market research company Dataquest Inc., analyst Jose Sta. Ana pointed out that it is often easier to successfully bring fresh new products to meet new requirements than it is to change the existing way of doing things.
In this case, that approach is to move all the data into one central store, then query and analyze against that data repository.
"While nQuire has interesting and compelling technologies, it will be a challenge to bring this to and gain market acceptance," the report said.
