EDS is offering customer relationship management (CRM) solutions via its EDS Business Solutions Provision (E.BSP) service, launched at the Customer Contact World show in Melbourne.
E.BSP functions in the same way as an application service provider (ASP); it hosts CRM solutions that customers can download via the internet or a virtual private network service. The service also includes strategic consulting and support services from EDS.
The E.BSP uses EDS's rapid implementation method, which enables a customer's CRM capabilities to be up and running within two weeks.
According to Rob Van Ende, EDS's Asia-Pacific director for CRM, the company avoids describing the E.BSP service as an ASP service because of the current performance issues associated with ASPs.
Van Ende also said that the E.BSP service is targeted at companies wanting the benefits of a CRM implementation without the cost and risk of building and managing their own operating environment.
