Japan, U.S. Reach Telecom Agreement

TOKYO (07/18/2000) - Government officials from the U.S. and Japan reached agreement late Tuesday night on the contentious issue of telecommunications interconnection rates, IDG News Service has learned.

The two sides agreed to reduce the rates Nippon Telegraph and Telephone Corp.

(NTT) charges other carriers to connect to its circuits by 50 percent over the next two years.
