Infineon, Chinese Universities Team Up on Chip R&D

BERLIN (07/19/2000) - Semiconductor maker Infineon Technologies AG announced Wednesday the opening of two microelectronics design laboratories in China, in conjunction with universities there. The labs will be operated with Tsinghua University in Beijing and Fudan University in Shanghai, the company said in a statement.

Infineon already cooperates extensively with China's Tsinghua and Fudan Universities, the company said, adding that the labs are helping develop a new generation of Chinese engineers familiar with Infineon's products.

The statement referred to Infineon's "long term commitment towards supporting China's education and research institutes in their drive to match pace with developments in the microelectronics field worldwide."
