Solution 6 is claiming a milestone with the completion of a successful implementation of its SAP- and Lotus-based, Centrum ASP offering by integrator AlphaWest ERP, a Western Australian solutions provider it holds a 40 per cent stake in.
Solution 6 claims its rollout at mining and oil equipment distributor Geographe Enterprises is the first ASP implementation in Western Australia, as well as being "commercial proof" of the viability of hosted enterprise applications.
John Dunkerley, Solution 6's channel accounts manager, said Geographe represents the first significant Centrum ASP implementation, despite the initiative being launched last year. However, he added "it is the first of many more to come", including another two which are due to go live in the near future.
"The value of an ASP implementation is a detailed process to assess and Centrum is a very broad offering, Dunkerley said of the slow takeup of ASP in Australia. "What we are offering is an end-to-end business process, so it is not an overnight decision to implementation."
Dunkerley said the fact Geographe had chosen to take on an ASP solution after an extensive assessment and pilot program was evidence of the value it offers.
"This is commercial proof that we can deliver economy and certainty of costs for Geographe's IT expenditure into the future through an ASP solution," Dunkerley said. "Companies now know what they will be spending on their business processes."
Although Solution 6 holds equity in AlphaWest, its relationship predates the acquisition and Dunkerley insists it will always be keen to engage channel partners in the process of rolling out ASP implementations.
"Our strategy is always to engage other parties to service niche technical requirements, market verticals and geographical spreads," Dunkerley said. "The relevant partner in the west is AlphaWest who have mining and oil exploration expertise."
