SAN MATEO (08/04/2000) - Novell Inc. this week added secure messaging and audio/video instant message features to Version 2.0 of its instantme IM client, hoping to attract more e-business users. The program uses digital certificates and supports 128-bit encryption for both the IM data and user authentication.
As of Aug. 4, instantme 2.0 is available as a free download and will run over the America Online backbone, requiring registration of an AOL screen name before use. Novell also updated its Net Publisher Web publishing software, adding more APIs to integrate the product into more business processes and support for Windows 2000. Net Publisher 2.0, also made available Aug. 4, automatically converts documents into HTML.
