Deutsche Telecom Delays IPO of T-Mobile

BERLIN (08/09/2000) - Deutsche Telekom AG (DT) confirmed Wednesday that it is postponing plans to make an initial public offering (IPO) of shares in its wireless subsidiary T-Mobile International AG.

The IPO was originally planned for the third quarter of 2000, said DT spokesman Hans Ehnert. But "because of making sure that our prospectus will include the acquisition details of VoiceStream (Wireless Corp.), it's a more complex issue."

DT announced plans last month to acquire the US-based VoiceStream for a cash-and-stock deal worth some US$50 billion.

The company's board of management has decided to reschedule the IPO, but there is as yet no final decision about a date, said Ehnert. The amount of stock to be offered has also not been decided, he added.
