FRAMINGHAM (08/11/2000) - Database and tools vendor Informix Corp. said this week it will lay off nearly 500 employees as part of a restructuring plan that has condensed its five business areas into two units. After the job cuts, Informix's total head count will be approximately 3,800. Menlo Park, Calif.-based Informix also revealed it will take a third-quarter restructuring charge of between US$75 million and $90 million, followed by a further restructuring charge of between $10 million and $15 million during the first half of next year.
