Internet monitoring agency Sinewave Interactive has snapped up ex-Sausage Software chief operating officer (COO) Andrew Walsh as its first-ever CEO to steer the company's global strategic partnerships and business direction.
A former consultant to Sinewave and founder of Internet consultancy eLaunch, Walsh, 32, helped launch Sinewave's Internet measurement and flagship service, Hitwise (www.hitwise.com). He also played a key role in raising $A6.35 million in capital for the company.
The former Sausage COO negotiated several strategic deals during his tenure with the e-commerce software-developer, forming alliances with Intel, Netscape, AOL, RealNetworks and XOOM.com.
Walsh joins executive directors Adrian Giles and Andrew Barlow in Sinewave's management ranks. Giles and Barlow will drive the company's product and business development efforts, focusing on implementing the Hitwise service across Asia.
"I am proud to lead Sinewave at such an important phase in its development, and to deliver on the strategy and vision that the company's founders have put in place," Walsh said yesterday of his appointment.
"Sinewave is a company at the forefront of delivering competitive Internet intelligence - a must-have for any company doing business on the Net." Walsh's appointment was backed by Internet industry heavies such as Martin Lindstrom, COO of BT LookSmart and Sinewave board member, who said Walsh's "proven experience" in expanding a locally-developed product internationally was a major factor in his selection.
"With Andrew's first-hand knowledge of global business development practices, we are confident Hitwise will be recognised globally as the leader in comparative website analysis," he said.
