Oracle Corp. CEO Larry Ellison's recently departed second-in-command, Ray Lane, has landed a new job at venture capital heavyweight Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers. He also landed a few haymakers on Ellison and his former Oracle colleagues last week in an interview with The Wall Street Journal. "They aren't leaders," Lane said of Ellison's remaining lieutenants. "They just do what Larry says." Lane also accused Ellison of having encouraged the sale of products that did not exist, a charge to which Ellison responded: "He is the soul, the conscience of Oracle, and the other 45,000 of us are criminals? . . .
We don't sell products that don't exist because it's against the law." . . .
Don't expect to see these two vacationing together anytime soon.
