Brief: Sprint, WorldCom File for Fixed Wireless

Sprint Corp. and WorldCom Inc. separately filed with the U.S. Federal Communications Commission to offer two-way fixed wireless services in more than 100 markets. Sprint plans to offer Sprint Broadband Direct fixed wireless services in 45 markets, including Chicago; San Francisco; Green Bay, Wis.; Seattle; Omaha, Neb.; and Denver. Sprint's service is available in Tucson, Ariz., and Phoenix. WorldCom plans to offer its fixed wireless services in 60 markets, including Boston; Providence, R.I.; Pittsburgh; San Antonio, Texas; and Buffalo, N.Y.
