Dell Computer Corp. Monday said it will begin to offer a new suite of services designed to enhance platform stability, speed system delivery and address the often mundane task of updating hard drive images.
Dell Image Management Services, available now in the U.S. and Canada, will assist customers in dealing with the effects of continuous hardware and software transitions, the company said in a statement. The services suite will develop, validate, deploy and maintain the hard drive images of large and small companies. An image consists of the operating system, drivers and software applications stored on the hard drive.
In its current form, Dell's image management services are conducted at a client's site or at the Dell factory. Within the next eight to 10 weeks, Dell will begin to offer the services via the Internet. Dell Image Management Services will be the focus of a Webcast at 2 p.m. EDT, Tuesday Aug. 29. The Webcast can be viewed at http://www.itworld.com/itwebcast/dell_ims.html/.
