Ericsson Boosts Local R&D

Ericsson Australia plans to employ another 200 scientists in the next 12 months to undertake research into advanced mobile and data applications.

The announcement is part of the company's joint initiative with the Victorian government to boost job growth in this sector.

The Victorian government predicts the creation of 10,000 IT&T jobs in the state over the next 12 months and is working with Ericsson on initiatives to address the skills shortage.

Rebecca Power, Ericsson Australia's people and organisation director, said collaboration between government and industry is essential to combat the growing IT skills shortage in Australia.
