Kinecta Corp. Tuesday announced several enhancements to its syndication software and a companion measurement service for companies that distribute Internet content to hundreds or thousands of Web sites.
Kinecta provides the underlying software platform used by Reuters Group PLC, Yahoo Inc., Fidelity Investments Inc. and others to distribute and manage their online content. The flagship Kinecta Interact software is built on the Information and Content Exchange protocol, an XML communications standard, and is written in Java so it supports all major operating systems.
The new Kinecta Interact Enterprise Edition features support for the Secure Socket Layer standard as well as a distributed architecture that lets large installations run the software over multiple servers. The Enterprise Edition costs US$30,000 per server, plus an additional fee per subscriber. A typical installation costs between $50,000 and $75,000.
Meanwhile, Kinecta released Version 3.1 of its Standard Edition, which now supports push technology and offers an easier installation process for new subscribers. The standard edition costs $20,000 per server, plus an additional fee per subscriber. A typical installation costs between $40,000 and $50,000. (The enterprise edition includes all the features of the standard edition.)Kinecta also announced TrafficRegister, which is one of the first outsourced, Internet-based services for tracking how syndicated content is used across the 'Net. TrafficRegister is available as an add-on service for users of either the standard or enterprise editions of Kinecta Interact.
TrafficRegister tracks the number of page views and unique visitors that syndicated content receives on a daily or weekly basis. Reports are accessed via the Web and are based on information recorded as recent as 30 minutes prior. TrafficRegister is sold for a monthly fee based on the number of page views, with typical installations expected to cost hundreds or thousands of dollars per month.
