USinternetworking Inc. is getting set to launch a pre-integrated, e-commerce suite that the application service provider says will allow brick-and-mortar retailers to build an online operation in as little as 45 days.
Called Instant Retail, the USi service is based on BroadVision Inc.'s recently released BroadVision Retail Commerce Suite. BroadVision's product is designed to be an end-to-end e-commerce offering.
USi has been offering BroadVision products for approximately 2 years. Past BroadVision implementations tended to take about 100 days, says Bryan Linscott, USi's vice-president of e-commerce products. To speed up the implementation process, USi created templates based on "best practices" it had learned through its experience with BroadVision e-commerce products and incorporated those templates into the Instant Retail service.
Linscott notes that Instant Retail customers can customize the templates after they're up and running.
USi will manage the Instant Retail product end-to-end, provide service-level agreements and add in USi's E-Transactions service, which supports credit card transaction processing, fraud analysis, automated shipping and tax calculations, and business reporting and analysis.
Customers will have the option of taking advantage of USi's alliance with OrderTrust, which would allow customers to perform complex order management, product sourcing and loyalty management.
Instant Retail will be available in mid-September. A standard 3-year e-commerce contract with USi tends to be in the $2 million to $2.5 million range, Linscott says.
