Content management software provider Day Management AG has opened its first Asian office in Singapore to better support and extend its base of multinational customers and to tap on Asian fund sources.
The Basel, Switzerland-based company's flagship product is its Communique Web site management software, of which the latest 2.5 version was released Tuesday.
"Our presence in Singapore is because most our customers have their regional headquarters here," said Michael Moppert, chief executive officer and chairman of Day Management. "Many of them are big entities with their Asian operations growing rapidly. We want to help them build their infrastructure (in Asia)."
These customers include Sony and Union Bank of Switzerland.
Going further into the future, Day hopes to "really build up quality relationships with strong Asian players." Over the next year, Day"s efforts in the region will be more to build up "a credible presence."
Business for the company out of Singapore is expected to come from both direct and indirect sales channels.
"Similarly, support in Asia will be coming from both our partners and ourselves. We are beefing up our support organization here as support is key to building a long-term relationship with customers." He noted that being in the region also provides Day with the opportunity to learn from local economies.
"Many other corporations in the United States and Europe think of Asia as just a market, but there's a lot of talent here, such as the large pool of developers from India."
In April this year, Day went public in Switzerland, which enabled it to go ahead with its territorial expansion. In Asia, Moppert said, after building up its business here, the company will look at local funding opportunities.
"In the next phase, we want to introduce Day to the Asian investment community. We are looking at institutional investors for Asian funds."
