HarvestRoad score global distribution

Web publishing software developer HarvestRoad has signed a distribution agreement with Linux software giants Red Hat that sees HarvestRoad's Website Wizard application distributed worldwide.

After a strategic alliance signed in July yielded a local distribution deal with Red Hat for HarvestRoad, the Website Wizard application will now be bundled with Version 7 of the Red Hat Linux Application Library CD (LACD), which HarvestRoad managing director Grame Barty expects to reach hundreds of thousands of Linux users worldwide.

HarvestRoad's Website Wizard is a Web publishing templated authoring tool built specifically for the Linux operating environment. In Australia, it is distributed through several channel partners including Interim Technology, Maxi Multimedia, TSA and Rambora.

The version included on the Red Hat LACD is deployed on the user's server on a trial basis, and if the user wants to purchase the complete version, they contact HarvestRoad for a digital key, which is activated on payment.

Barty is confident that any customer service and technical support for the product can be provided sufficiently using the Internet, regardless of whether the user is in Australia or overseas.

"We really hope this is successful", he said. "It will be a real coup for us."
