Compaq Computer Corp. on Tuesday named Shane V. Robison the company's senior vice president and chief technology officer.
Robison comes to Compaq from AT&T Corp., where he most recently served as president of internet technology and development within AT&T Labs, Compaq said in a statement. He was responsible for the architecture, planning and development of all AT&T Internet services.
Prior to his work at AT&T, Robison spent four years at Cadence Design Systems Inc., where he rose to the position of president of the design productivity group. Robison serves on several boards, including those of Alchemy Semiconductor Inc. and Lutris Technologies Inc.
Robison will report directly to Michael Capellas, Compaq's chairman and chief executive officer.
Bill Strecker held the company's chief technology officer position until his retirement in April. He also served as Compaq's chief strategist.
