Walldorf, Germany-based SAP AG announced that the merged petroleum and petrochemical giant ExxonMobil will be using mySAP.com to streamline global operations for its employees and suppliers, aiming to cut business process costs, SAP officials said. No dollar amount was announced for the deal.
The mySAP.com platform will serve as the primary backbone for what has been described as a "global business infrastructure project," SAP officials said. The project will lead to a consolidation of systems and will affect 100,000 employees worldwide. Specifically, ExxonMobil will be using the supply-chain management, oil-and-gas, and human-capital management modules of mySAP.com, SAP officials said.
The online supply-chain links will be used to help ExxonMobil optimize the performance of its chemicals business unit supply chain. The oil-and-gas solution will be applied to business processes from the refinery to the consumer. The workforce applications will be used to help with the company's global human resource management challenges. With respect to its European operations, ExxonMobil will apply mySAP.com to its service station retailing processes.
