BHP has launched an online diamond retailing site aurias.com, which went live last week. It is the first time, with Aurias' special, straight from the mine to you' offers, that BHP has engaged directly with retail diamond customers.
Aurias' customers will initially be given the choice of 1300 high-quality polished diamonds from BHP's 51 per cent owned Ekati mine in Canada. Carat weight will range from 0.25 to 1.50 and a small range of larger size diamonds are available on the Web site.
To ensure privacy and security CommSecure will provide commercial strength encryption on all credit card payments. Following the establishment of Aurias in Australia the brand will be launched overseas next year.
