Microsoft Releases Win 9x and NT Migration Tools

Microsoft has released a tool that helps IT managers migrate users' settings and files from Windows NT and 9.X desktops to Windows 2000 Professional.

The User State Migration Tool lets administrators selectively migrate settings, including dial-up networking, folders, display, Internet Explorer, network shares and Outlook.

Typically, these settings are migrated manually or using a script.

The command-line tool is available for free at http://www.microsoft.com/windows2000/news/bulletins/usmt.asp.
