Davnet Limited, provider of Internet protocol (IP)-powered telecommunications services, has awarded a multimillion dollar contract to Open Telecommunications (OT) to deploy a voice over Internet protocol (VoIP) network. The solution is based on Cisco voice architecture and OTs' Call Control platform and applications, including preselection and number portability applications, as well as freephone (1800) and local rate (13) solutions. Contract deliverables include telecommunication engineering services to integrate SS7 (signalling system 7) protocol into Davnet's existing VoIP network; integration of OTs' IP-enabled intelligent network platform, and implementation of OT's software and Cisco's hardware to deploy a full carrier-grade converged service including voice, data and video over a single network.
