Telco Extends Into North Queensland

Macquarie Corporate Telecommunications is in expansion mode, announcing a move into the Queensland regional centre of Townsville.

In addition to offering data network services, Macquarie plans to commission a regional data facility in Townsville in early January 2001, which the company said will deliver new services and cost savings to the North Queensland business community.

Macquarie was recently granted a carrier licence to operate in Singapore and extended operations into Morwell, Victoria in August this year.

The eight-year old telco currently operates in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Perth, Adelaide and Hobart.

David Tudehope, chief executive officer for Macquarie, said the launch is a "fundamental step in developing our significant investment in Queensland, and we envisage investing further in the state's regional areas".
