Competitive gulf between medium and large to close

<p>Mid-tier retailers can look forward to closing the competitive gulf with large retailers when an enhanced software system is launched in 2004 that will give them access to the same technology companies such as David Jones and Coles Myer have invested millions of dollars in.</p>
<p>Technology One’s Retail One: CI product is a giant leap forward in software technology that will deliver dramatic improvements in productivity and accuracy for mid-tier retailers, and give them a competitive advantage in a very tight market.</p>
<p>Technology One Executive Chairman, Mr Adrian Di Marco said the company was looking forward to the launch of the enhanced product, which is generating significant excitement in the market.</p>
<p>“The combined advantages of this technology deliver a unique product to the mid-tier Australian retail market,” Mr Di Marco said.</p>
<p>“Retail One: CI will significantly improve productivity and accuracy through the automation of manual processes, improved inventory control and a streamlined sales and ordering process,” he said.</p>
<p>“It will also support EANway trading standards and Scan-packing, enabling retailers to run their business full circle using e-Commerce technology,” he said.</p>
<p>Enhancements to Retail One include full electronic trading capacity that will allow data recorded at the point of sale to trigger a stock replenishment order and send an electronic purchase order to the supplier. Suppliers scan pick and pack the order, send Advance Ship Notes (ASN) to the retailer and ship the order in a carton with a Serial Shipping Container Code (SSCC).</p>
<p>This system allows the retailer to determine the contents of the carton by scanning the SSCC, which cross-matches the details against those sent with the ASN. The carton is then shipped to the individual stores without being opened, significantly reducing double handling at the distribution centre. The retailer pays for the order on electronic invoice or against the evaluated receipt or ASN.</p>
<p>Mr Di Marco said the enhanced product is built on a .NET framework, with a rich, powerful user interface that is simple and easy to use, and requires little training or experience.</p>
<p>“Technology One has invested significant research and development to bring its next generation of software, called the Connected Intelligence series, to the market,” Mr Di Marco said.</p>
<p>“The software goes far beyond the current boundaries of traditional client server or HTML-based Internet applications, delivering on the promise of truly ‘connected’ suppliers, customers and employees,” he said.</p>
