Telstra Australia has expanded the capacity of its mobile phone network in north-west NSW to cope with increased traffic as a result of severe flooding.
Additional capacity has been provided in Tamworth, Coonamble, Gunnedah and Quirindi.
It has been made available through the installation of transceivers to a base station which enables additional channels to be used.
Ian Peters, general manager for Telstra country wide area said: "The enhancement will enable a greater number of simultaneous calls to be made."
"The additional capacity is temporary and may move to other areas of the state over the coming weeks to assist emergency services and customers."
