ASX-listed Powerlan's training subsidiary the Australian IT Careers Institute (AITCI) has entered an agreement with a similar British-based firm to provide trans-national training courses for Indian students.
According to a press statement, the exclusive deal will see AITCI joining forces with Asset International - a training-focused subsidiary of UK-listed Aptech - to enrol approximately 1000 students during 2001. Indian students have been targeted because the subcontinent is currently rated as the largest IT training market in the world, with over 1,000,000 students per annum.
Powerlan will be taking advantage of Aptec's network of 1500 training centres in 38 countries to help ensure that all places will be full. It is expected that recruits will spend their first four months of training in India, followed by a further 12 months in Australia.
Graduating students will emerge having completed Asset's Indian-based ecom@asset version.2 e-commerce course and AITCI's Diploma of Information Technology - Software Development.
