Borland Software Corp. released a new Java-based software bundle Wednesday aimed at helping customers get electronic-commerce applications up and running quickly. The bundle includes software from Rational Software Corp. and Macromedia Inc. as well as Borland's own products.
Known as Enterprise Studio Java Edition, the bundle is designed to help speed up the development of Java multi-tier, Web and e-commerce applications by uniting design, development and process management functions, according to a Borland statement.
Enterprise Studio Java Edition consists of Borland's JBuilder 4 Enterprise Java development environment and its J2EE (Java 2, Enterprise Edition) AppServer 4.5, several of Rational's software testing and design tools and Macromedia's Dreamweaver UltraDev 4 software for Web application development.
JBuilder 4 helps customers build business, database and distributed applications based on the Java 2 platform. The software supports Linux, Windows and Solaris operating systems and incorporates a number of JavaBeans tools.
Borland's AppServer 4.5 provides clustering, load balancing and back-end integration, according to a statement.
Borland didn't provide any pricing on the software bundle.
