A new survey of Australian companies has revealed just how pre-occupied employees are with pornographic e-mail in the workplace.
The survey of e-mail use in 60 Australian companies shows 88 per cent of respondents had received pornographic e-mail and that more than half of the recipients had forwarded it on to friends and colleagues.
Despite this, 42 per cent of organisations do not have a defined e-mail policy according to EmuTech, which compiled the Web survey in September.
The company's technical director David Jones said the figures are astounding considering the average cost of a sexual harassment suit is $36,000.
Jones referred to the Chevron Corporation in the US which paid $2.2 million to employees over a joke e-mail "Why is beer better than women?"
