Feds to Cap Spectrum 3G Auction Bids

The Australian Communications Authority (ACA) will call for applications soon for the 3G (third-generation wireless) spectrum auction.

This followed an announcement by Senator Richard Alston, Minister for Communications, Information Technology and the Arts, that limits will be placed on the amount of spectrum any one bidder can acquire in metropolitan and regional Australia.

Applications are expected to close in early February 2001, with the auction date set for late February or early March.
