Freemantle to Retire from Cisco

One of Cisco Systems longest serving leaders plans to retire at the end of Cisco's fiscal third quarter, in April 2001.

Richard Freemantle, Cisco's senior vice president, Asia Pacific, joined the company in 1990 in which time the Australian team increased from two employees to more than 100. Gordon Astles, currently vice president of Cisco America's International division, will take over from Freemantle. Freemantle serves on the boards of several Australian technology companies and will continue to be an active leader in the Australian and regional IT industry. He will continue in his current role until the end of January 2001 and will remain with the company until April 2001 to transition his responsibilities to Astles.
