Mark Heers, national product manager with EMC, was elected chairman of the Storage Networking Industry Association ANZ, at the group's first annual general meeting last Friday.
Heers, in an earlier interview with Computerworld, said the main focus for the group in the coming year would be on standards to enable interoperability of vendors' solutions.
Heers, who will lead the board for the next 12 months, yesterday said "Our success, and that of the storage industry, depends on this establishment of best practices, industry standards and education programs that span all vendors’ products. I am fortunate to be working with a fantastic team and have no doubt that the new Board will be successful in delivering on the many challenges ahead."
Also elected were Andrew Manners, HP, vice chairman; Andrew Antal, Computer Associates, secretary; Peter Glover, Imation, treasurer; Graham Schultz, Brocade; Ross Harper, Hitachi Data Systems; Garry Barker, IBM; Chris Pearson, Sun; Narelle Wilson, Veritas.
