PeopleSoft announced a partnership Monday with IBM's mid-sized business division to offer preconfigured servers running IBM's DB2 database and middleware products and business software from PeopleSoft.
PeopleSoft said it will begin offering its Accelerated Solutions software packages on IBM's eServer line to customers in six countries outside of the US. The packages are fixed-price offerings that include PeopleSoft's Internet applications, technical training and implementation services. Until now they were not available overseas.
"The reason for preconfiguring systems is to strip out costs and complexities for mid-sized companies," said Jeff Read, vice president and general manager of mid-market software at PeopleSoft. The company targets mid-sized businesses that generate up to US$300 million in annual revenue.
PeopleSoft currently offers 10 Accelerated Solutions, each aimed at various industry segments and based on different PeopleSoft products. The packages come with unlimited user licenses and are designed to run on Unix or Windows NT, Read said.
IBM Global Services will also take part in the partnership, promoting PeopleSoft's Accelerated Solution for CRM (customer resource management) to its customers.
PeopleSoft said that it is expanding its Accelerated Solutions offering, previously only available in the U.S., to customers in France, the U.K., the Netherlands, Australia, New Zealand and Canada. For the past nine months it has been localizing the products to target language, currency and regulatory issues in each of those regions.
The company plans to launch the Accelerated Solution offerings one country at a time, reaching all six of them within 90 days, Read said. It will also launch dedicated sales and support teams in each of those regions.
In addition to CRM, PeopleSoft develops business software applications used for various aspects of business computing including enterprise resource planning, human resources management, supply chain management and enterprise service automation.
