Software vendors storm police summit

IT vendors will dominate Australia's first Police Summit delivering 22 of the 30 presentations scheduled for the two-day event in Sydney on June 18 and 19, 2003.

More than 450 police and public sector officials from Australia, New Zealand, France, Fiji and the US will attend the event which will showcase the latest equipment and technology in forensics, counter terrorism, money laundering and geographic information systems (GIS).

Chez Chastaine of Criminal Justice Operations at Sun Microsystems will deliver one of the keynote presentations and will be joined by biometric vendors, imaging application providers and document management solution providers.

Organisers said the summit is expected to become an annual event and speakers have requested a ban on media attendance.
