JBoss, Popkin boost Java, business simulation

JBoss Group and Popkin Software & Systems this week separately announced alliances in software development pertaining to Java application server technology and business simulation, respectively.

JBoss Group said it will offer professional support services to customers using the Apple Mac OS X Version 10.0 Panther Server operating system, which features the JBoss open source Java application server. JBoss will provide enterprise-level services including support, training, and consulting, JBoss said.

Inclusion of the JBoss application sever in Panther enables deployment of J2EE-based applications, including Enterprise JavaBeans components, according to JBoss and Apple Computer.

Popkin Software, makers of the System Architect modeling and enterprise architecture tool, announced that it is partnering with Lanner Group, of London, which specializes in business simulation and optimization. Lanner's Witness simulation capability will be integrated into System Architect to enable users to analyze the "what if" impacts of complex business process scenarios to make better business decisions, according to Popkin.

Through the arrangement, System Architect's interface will be able to access Witness. This integration is expected to occur in September.
