Macquarie Corporate Telecommunications has partnered with LogicaCMG and Symantec to offer a raft of new hosted security and consultancy services.
Macquarie Corporate Telecommunications general manager Glen Noble said the managed security services offering includes secure data hosting, monitoring and management through Macquarie’s $35 million DSD Gateway- accredited data centre.
"While many companies and government departments can afford technology like firewalls and IDSes, they struggle to provide the ongoing 24x7 counter response capability," Noble said.
“It’s not about technology, it’s about total cost of ownership and skill sets,” he said. “Some places may have one or two gurus but, what happens if they leave? And in other places the IT guy doubles as security manager and, being frank, probably doesn’t have the skills.”
He added that AusCert studies estimate that major online security breaches cost some $186,000 per organisation.
Under the new partnership, Macquarie’s Intellicentre will offer secure hosting via its DSD accredited gateway, providing standard VPN and firewall capabilities, intrusion detection, monitoring, reporting and counter response services. Symantec will manage security devices on the client side, while LogicaCMG will offer risk and vulnerability assessments, penetration testing, policy and strategy development, and incident investigation.
