Telecommunications company Optus will move to a $350 million Sydney headquarters and in the process create 500 new jobs over three years.
NSW Premier Bob Carr today said the North Ryde development also would create 1,600 construction jobs from March next year.
"NSW is the engine room of the Australian economy and is roaring forward," Carr told parliament.
Optus will transfer personnel from North Sydney, Gordon and Chatswood to the purpose-built site by mid-2007. The development consists of six buildings spread over eight hectares.
It will house the company's 6,500 workers and will have capacity for an expected 500 new jobs over the next three years.
