Internet-enabled learning for Cisco Career CertificationICND E-Learning Edition provides an instruction path in routing and switching to prepare students for the Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) exam.

Designed for online learning, the course is split into 20-minute learning segments. Assessment activities and search capabilities let students evaluate their progress. Students who order the ICND E-Learning Edition before August 31 will also receive BCRAN E-Learning Edition, one of the requirements for Cisco Certified Network Professional certification.

BCRAN E-Learning provides recommended instruction in building remote access networks.

Virtual Classroom

Hewlett-Packard Education has recently launched a series of Virtual Classrooms that enable customers throughout Australia to participate in online training sessions. Aimed at large companies and enterprise customers using HP hardware and software solutions, the Virtual Classroom is an Internet-based workshop environment that provides real-time interactivity. Subjects include: HP-UX11 - its features and functions; backup and recovery tools; and Win2000.

IBM, Lotus

Mindspan Solutions

IBM recently launched the IBM Mindspan Solutions unit aimed at helping corporate customers plan, develop and deploy distance-learning capabilities for their employees.

The Mindspan unit is now delivering a ‘blended' electronic-learning product line that lets users provide collaborative or self-paced instruction for employees and distributors via the Internet and groupware technologies such as Lotus Notes.

One of the new technologies is Lotus LearningSpace 4.0, a distance-learning application that includes built-in tracking and management capabilities.

The application lets users control the speed of their learning, either by using self-paced materials or by interacting with others in a virtual classroom.

Microsoft is working with leading Australian education sites to build online learning environments and develop specific online learning tools to further assist universities, TAFE institutes and schools to maximise their investment in Microsoft technologies. Microsoft is supporting the program with free training, software and providing Microsoft consulting services. Microsoft Back-Office provides an infrastructure for the design, delivery and management of online learning.
