Five months after announcing its acquisition of Caps Logistics, Baan has launched its first set of products that integrate those of the supply-chain software house.
Baan said earlier this week it has launched an operations-management suite designed to help companies manage their activities in the areas of production, enterprise-resource planning and logistics. Using a graphical interface, the office-management suite lets companies oversee the entire manufacturing process, according to a Baan statement. The result is that companies can accelerate product time-to-market, ensure on-time delivery and respond to sudden swings in demand, according to Baan.
The new package integrates modules from Caps Logistics' software for logistics planning and scheduling with Baan's own supply-chain software, Baan said. Supply-chain software covers all phases of a company's manufacturing process. The package will also interface with Baan's own core enterprise resource planning (ERP) software.
It focuses on three areas:
Strategic planning, which, through a graphical interface tracking demands for material and personnel, will help companies make decisions on where and when to manufacture certain items.
Operational planning, to provide information on the appropriate sources from which companies can procure materials and resources for manufacturing and transporting products; Execution, to help companies manage the entire manufacturing process, including allowing them to check in real-time the status of orders or work processes.
Baan could not be immediately reached to elaborate on the products or confirm when they will be available.
