Scientists protest hospital IT outsourcing

Up to 100 scientists at St Vincent's Hospital in Melbourne will stop work today to protest against hospital plans to outsource IT services.

Medical Scientists Association executive officer Rosemary Kelly said the outsourcing plans are part of a restructure of pathology services and a stop work meeting will be held this afternoon to plan further industrial action.

Kelly said restructuring is being done without consultation adding that the stop work meeting will not affect urgent pathology services.

More to come.
