Ericsson’s 18 IT and sales sites, primarily in metropolitan New Zealand and Australia, will be linked as part of a new two-year agreement with Telstra and TelstraClear.
Servicing Ericsson’s trans-Tasman Wide Area Network (WAN) requirements, the solution provides ordering, invoicing and fault management.
Telstra’s and TelstraClear’s Private IP networks will provide secure, seamless Ethernet connectivity spanning the two countries and the Tasman.
A statement issued by Telstra said the deal will provide Ericsson with greater inter-site connectivity, improved reliability for critical IT applications, ease of network management and increased ability to upgrade to newer technologies and bandwidth.
Telstra claims Ericsson's network costs will be reduced through rationalisation and outsourcing LAN and WAN management to Telstra and TelstraClear.
