Former Westpac CIO Mary Anne Maxwell has been appointed VP of executive directions for Meta Group Australia, New Zealand and selected APAC countries.
Maxwell announced the appointment at a conference in Sydney today, "The Complete CIO" organised by Computerworld's sister publication CIO Magazine.
Maxwell has more than 30 years experience in IT commencing as a programmer/analyst to become a CIO and CTO at Westpac as well as CXO at Zenith Insurance Company in the US.
Meta managing director Paul Ventura said the research firm is thrilled to have attracted an executive of Maxwell's calibre, adding there is no substitute for experience and "Mary Ann has it in droves".
Admitting the new position is a huge change in direction after a working life in IT, Maxwell said Meta is a great conduit to meet her CIO peers and share her experiences.
"I think the mentoring and coaching methodologies developed by Meta's Executive Directions program are ideal," she said.
Maxwell holds a Bachelor of Science Degree as well as an MBA and is a member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.
