Network Appliance Broadens Enterprise Storage Solutions Portfolio

<p>Network Appliance, Inc. (NASDAQ: NTAP), significantly broadened its enterprise storage solutions portfolio with today's unveiling of new entry-level systems, expanded operating system support for Fibre Channel SAN (storage area network) environments, new advancements for SnapLock(tm) Compliance, and the introduction of SnapLock Enterprise.</p>
<p>These solutions enable customers to create a flexible storage infrastructure that addresses a variety of data and storage needs for today's information-intensive business. These new systems and software further extend the Network Appliance(tm) unified storage portfolio for application data in mission- and business-critical environments for archive and reference purposes, and for enterprise-wide or workgroup and departmental requirements. Network Appliance is focused on solving enterprise customer storage challenges including regulatory and compliance data needs, storage consolidation, internet access and security, technical applications and data protection. Today's announcements highlight these areas and provide customers with new options to meet their diverse storage infrastructure requirements.</p>
<p>Commenting specifically on SnapLock, Simon Green, Managing Director of Network Appliance in Australia and New Zealand, said, "New legislative requirements have made the need for effective storage even greater, now that companies have to save data they would once have deleted. Network Appliance is currently the only vendor offering a complete line of unified storage solutions for online, nearline and distributed data requirements based on a single platform."</p>

* New entry-level FAS200 series enterprise storage systems that provide; enterprise reliability, availability, and scalability; and powerful performance starting at a compelling price of US$10,000; NetApp ease of use; added value from NetApp(r) and partner enterprise storage software packages; and a 3U form factor for space-constrained workgroup environments
* The FAS250 is designed for NAS and/or iSCSI SAN environments
* The FAS270/FAS270c is designed for NAS, iSCSI, and/or Fibre Channel SAN environments
* Expanded Fibre Channel SAN support: Linux(r), HP-UX, and AIX drivers complement existing NetApp SAN support for Solaris(tm) and Windows(r), broadening the NetApp SAN footprint and giving customers even more flexibility and choice on how to deploy NetApp FAS systems throughout their enterprise infrastructures
* SnapLock Compliance: a regulated data solution used in such industries as financial services, healthcare, life sciences, and more broadly across all significant publicly-traded companies, enables compliance with various US regulations including SEC Rule 17a-4, HIPAA, 21 CFR Part 11, and Sarbanes-Oxley; now available on both NetApp FAS servers and the NearStore(tm) platform; supports record-level retention dates
* SnapLock Enterprise: a new version of SnapLock software designed to protect important information that must remain unchanged for long periods of time; SnapLock Enterprise is for non-regulated data such as seismic surveys, automobile collision reports, or customer records that should not be changed but that do not need to meet government guidelines</p>
