Under a strategy to focus on core business, Vodafone Australia has shed more than 100 staff by outsourcing non-core IT operations and property management.
About 107 employees have been impacted by the plan, but 100 of them have accepted positions with the company's outsourcing partners. Those include AAP Communications Services, IBM Australia, Hewlett-Packard Australia, property management group Five D, and TCI.
The changes came into effect from Saturday.
Under the program, AAPCS and TCI will jointly provide full-service management for the mobile network base-station environment, and for Vodafone's transmission network.
That covers all aspects of site acquisition, construction, equipment implementation, and maintenance.
The plan also sees Hewlett-Packard supporting and maintaining IT infrastructure and managing Vodafone's data centres.
IBM Australia will support Vodafone's IT applications, such as portfolio management support, application maintenance, configuration and enhancement.
Five D will provide property and facilities management services.
