Novell to implement Web services spec

Novell is joining the list of vendors planning to implement Business Process Execution Language (BPEL), a Web services choreography specification now being reviewed by the OASIS standards organization, the company said on Tuesday.

Also known as Business Process Execution Language for Web Services (BPEL4WS), the specification is intended to provide a way to describe business processes constructed as a collection of Web services and automate Web services interactions. It is being supported by vendors such as Microsoft Corp., IBM Corp., BEA Systems Inc., and SAP AG.

Novell plans to implement BPEL in a future release of Novell exteNd Composer Process Manager, a business process manager that ships with Novell's Web application development suite, Novell exteNd.
