Dell Computer Corp. on Thursday will reaffirm a rosy forecast for its fiscal first quarter ending May 2, the company said in a statement Wednesday.
At its conference in New York for analysts, investors and reporters, the company will stand by the first-quarter projections it gave Feb. 13. At that time, Dell predicted that its revenue would be 18 percent higher than in last year's first quarter, the volume of units shipped would be up by more than 25 percent and earnings per share would come in at US$0.23, an increase of 35 percent from a year earlier. The company plans to report its first-quarter results on May 15.
Revenue is showing double-digit growth year over year in all regions and customer segments, according to the Dell statement. Once focused on making PCs and servers, Dell has expanded into new fields including handheld computers, networking equipment, storage gear, printers and services.
