Cab company signs up for new automated telephone taxi booking solution

Sydney cab company Premier Cabs will implement a new automated telephone taxi booking solution to handle the 3.6 million-plus calls a year to its call centre.

The auto-booking system will let Premier Cab's customers book taxis by telephone without the need for call centre staff to enter the details manually into the taxi despatch system.

VisibleVoice will deliver its VeloCT Enterprise system, which will use speech recognition technology by SpeechWorks, to capture destination suburbs spoken by the caller, which are then passed through the despatch system and displayed onto the taxi driver’s console.

Details regarding the value of the deal, if a pilot stage has or will take place, or how Premier Cabs expects to see a return on investment, were unavailable.
