SingTel signs $191m 3G deal

Singapore Telecommunications has signed a $191.4 million ($US125 million) contract to roll out a third-generation mobile network.

SingTel has named Ericsson as sole supplier for its WCDMA system in Singapore.

Ericsson will also expand and upgrade SingTel's present 2G system for a fully integrated, national GSM/GPRS/WCDMA solution.

The agreement covers a complete 3G system including core and radio access network. As well as infrastructure supply, Ericsson will provide professional services including network design and systems integration.
