IBM is contemplating renaming the products from its Lotus Development Corp. unit to make the names clearer for users, IBM said Monday.
"We are thinking about rebranding Lotus products to make it easier for customers to understand what the products are about, but no final decision has been reached," Michael Kiess, an IBM spokesman in Europe said. No deadline for a decision has been set, he added.
The Lotus product portfolio includes the well-known groupware applications Notes and Domino. Other products include QuickPlace, SmartSuite and Sametime. Kiess would not say which specific products could be renamed.
